School Of Netball

Dumfries Academy offers an excellent opportunity for students in S1 and S2 to participate in the School of Netball Programme. Within this programme students develop the fundamentals of the game, attack and defence principles, fitness, health and well-being, confidence, resilience, ambition, accountability, responsibility, leadership and social skills. School of Netball students will cover Healthy and Respectful Relationships, Online Safety, Passenger Safety, Equality, Ethics and Diversity, Substance Misuse, Performance Preparation and Umpiring, Coaching and Event Organisation through the medium of Netball. When able School of Netball students will represent the school team in the Regional Festival Days, Regional Leagues and Scottish Schools Competition. Students, as part of school of Netball, sign and uphold a contract in which they must model excellent behaviour, effort, conduct, uniform and attendance.
The School of Netball is delivered by Miss Haile who is a PE teacher but also a qualified Level 2 Netball Coach and Head coach of the Dumfries and Galloway U15 and U17 District Squads. Miss Haile has been involved in Netball for 19 years at varying levels and is the Chairperson of the Dumfries and Galloway Schools Netball Association.
