On Thursday 22nd February a team of Dumfries Academy pupils travelled to Kirroughtree Forest for the Regional Cross Country Championships. The pupils had earned their place by finishing in the top five at the school cross country championships.
On the day of the regional event, the weather was pleasant and the team were excited to run against other pupils from across the region. The course was in good condition but proved to be testing with varied terrain. There was a high standard of performance on show. All races were well represented by schools from across Dumfries and Galloway. Dumfries Academy pupils did themselves and the school proud. The team returned with a number of pupils finishing within the top 20 places in their respective age categories. The best Dumfries Academy performances of the day were: Eve Brown finishing 5th in the S3 girls’ race and Ross Acklam finishing 6th in the senior boys’ race.
